I teamed up with Sarah Harste of Sarah Harste Weavings who makes woven wall hangings and hosts weaving classes. She is not only super talented but lovely to be around. I’m lucky to have gotten to know someone like her!
Sarah and I teamed up to add some insight on how to style a weaving in a home. We showcased 7 of Sarah’s woven wall art for 7 days in my home (#styleyourweaving). We shared how to incorporate a weaving into almost any room in a home. In case you missed it, here are the tips we provided and the 7 days of style your weaving.
Let’s start with a gallery wall. If your gallery wall is composed of three pieces or many a weaving is the perfect addition. A woven wall piece adds a different shape, texture, and color than a typical frame or mirror.
Add a weaving over a piece of furniture. Hang the piece just a few inches (1″-5″) above a side table, console table, hutch, etc… Do not hang the weaving too high or eyes will rest at the void on the wall between the furniture and weaving. The weaving does not need to be hung in the middle of the furniture piece as long as there is height with a lamp, plant, or candle to center your eyes.
Do you have a wall that everyone sees? A spot that’s just screaming for a statement? Put a large weaving there! I placed this one on the wall right as you walk in my home- everyone will see it and it easily can stand alone. It’s a statement!
A weaving is a perfect addition to a nursery or kid’s space. The amazing thing about a weaving is that it can introduce new colors into the space or coordinate with the existing color palette. The uniqueness and texture it brings to the room will have adults and kiddos smiling.
Do you migrate towards hanging frames? mirrors? or art? I have art and photographs framed in this room and was holding out for something special for in between these sconces. It’s good to be cohesive but adding a piece that is unique, a different look, and full of texture will go a long way in a room. Woven wall art is the perfect way to add variety to your walls.
A weaving can find a home in any room even a kitchen or dining room. This weaving is hung on a smaller wall centered slightly higher than eye level. I adore the simple pop of color it adds to the space.
A weaving is perfect for any small wall. Not every wall needs to be occupied but if you have a small wall that needs something then a weaving is perfect. The weaving adds new colors into the space but fits nicely.
Now that you have seen the many ways and places to hang a weaving you must go get one!
